Down Syndrome Prenatal Outreach Program
The Down Syndrome Prenatal Outreach Program is a comprehensive program for organizations who want to provide prenatal support to expectant parents receiving a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis. The primary components of the program include the distribution of materials to medical professionals and the training of parent volunteers offering prenatal support who are Down Syndrome Representatives. The program includes professionally designed letter templates for physicians, templates for Down Syndrome Representative training seminars, and numerous supplementary training materials. Canister is offering this program, in cooperation with Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action and Flourish Network, at no charge as a public service to the Down syndrome community.
Medical Outreach for Volunteers with Webinar
For Medical Outreach Volunteers (also called Down Syndrome Reps) who will be offering materials and support to the medical providers who deliver prenatal Down syndrome diagnoses. Contents: a Medical Outreach Webinar that explains how to approach medical providers; a script for approaching medical providers; a contact log spreadsheet; and HIPAA requirements. The webinar can be used to train volunteers directly or can be used as a template for trainers who are conducting their own meeting.
Medical Outreach for Trainers with Office Presentation
For Medical Outreach Trainers who are training volunteers how to approach medical providers and doing training sessions for medical providers. Contents: a Medical Outreach PowerPoint presentation featuring the most recent recommendations by Dr. Skotko. Ideal for 20 minute office presentations. Also includes a conduct policy template to give Down Syndrome Reps; a volunteer tracking spreadsheet; HIPAA guidelines; and templates for introduction letters and information sheets.
Expectant Parent Support for Volunteers with Notebook
For Expectant Parent Support Volunteers who are providing direct support for expectant parents. The notebook includes specific exercises and recommendations about how to provide emotional support for expectant parents. Also includes a sheet with resources for frequently asked questions.
Expectant Parent Support for Trainers
For Expectant Parent Support Trainers who are teaching volunteers how to offer direct expectant parent support. Includes a specific outline for a training meeting with activities, such as role play activities.
